Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center Director Steve Hooke and Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara are pleased to announce that the HRECC assumed dispatch services for the Stoughton Police Department today.

The HRECC and the Town of Stoughton have entered into an Inter-Municipal Agreement for HRECC to answer 911 calls and provide dispatch services. The HRECC assumed dispatch services for the Stoughton Fire Department in October.

“We look forward to completing the dispatch service transition with the Town of Stoughton,” Director Hooke said. “We are thankful for our ongoing partnership with both departments and look forward to providing the best possible service to Stoughton’s first responders and their community members.”

The Stoughton Police Department is the second phase of the transition and the HRECC began taking 911 calls (wireless direct, wireline and text-to-911) and assumed police dispatch responsibility today, Feb. 28.

“We have developed a positive working relationship and have collaborated closely with the HRECC over the past several months to prepare for a seamless transition,” Chief McNamara said. “We are grateful for the HRECC’s dedication to providing the high level of 911 service that our community deserves and expects.”

The HRECC will also apply for funding through the State 911 Department. The grant, known officially as the FY24 Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant, would assist HRECC in funding the addition of the Stoughton Police and Fire Departments.

HRECC serves 17 departments across Norfolk, Plymouth and Middlesex counties. HRECC also serves the Norfolk County Technical Rescue Team and the Fire District 4 Control Point. It most recently assumed dispatch responsibility for the Holliston Police and Fire Departments.
