STOUGHTON — Chief Donna M. McNamara is pleased to share the success of the department’s 2023 “Nightmare on Rose Street” haunted station event.

On Saturday, Oct. 21, community members visited the Stoughton Police Station, which was fully transformed for Halloween. A majority of the station — including the community room, booking area, breakroom and vehicle bay — was decked out with various Halloween decorations such as witches, skeletons, gravestones, jack-o’-lanterns, cobwebs, coffins and clowns.

Visitors were greeted by Chief McNamara in the lobby. Groups were then taken on a spooky tour through the station, escorted by Stoughton Police officers and volunteers. For the first 30 minutes of the event, families with small children or those with sensory sensitivities enjoyed a scaled down, lights-on version of the haunted tour. Each child who attended received a trick-or-treat bag and treats, courtesy of the Stoughton IKEA.

Kids were encouraged to wear a costume to the event, and came dressed as witches, princesses, skeletons, Boston Celtics and Red Sox players, an astronaut, a dinosaur, Batman, Barney, and SpongeBob SquarePants and Squidward.

Stoughton Police officers volunteered at the event by escorting groups through the station or dressing up in scary costumes. Additional community members volunteered on behalf of the Stoughton Recreation Department and Maxx Training Center, which partnered with Stoughton Police for the event.

“We enjoy putting this event on each year and it’s great to see the excitement of all the kids and their families who attend,” Chief McNamara said. “Significant time and effort goes into the preparation and setup, and we are grateful to the many officers, town employees, community members and local businesses who help us put on the event.”

Stoughton Police would like to thank the Stoughton Recreation Department, Maxx Training Center and Stoughton IKEA.
