There are 6 detectives within the Stoughton Police Department.
Detectives are responsible for the investigation of all crimes and other special investigations assigned to the Investigate Services Bureau. Detectives are also proactive in detecting and preventing crimes. An Investigator may further be assigned to any of the following positions and assignments within the Bureau: Sexual Assaults Crime Scenes Narcotics or Task Force.
Detectives work under the direct supervision of the Investigative Services Supervisor (Detective Sergeant) and under the general supervision of the Investigative Services Commander (Deputy Chief).
