On Nov. 7 at approximately 10 a.m., Stoughton Police responded to a residence on Elm Street. Responding officers surrounded the residence out of an abundance of caution, and two people in the basement of the house were evacuated from the building. One suspect, a 17-YEAR-OLD JUVENILE MALE, was subsequently called out of the home by police and taken into custody.

During a protective sweep of the home, officers located a second 17-YEAR-OLD JUVENILE MALE and placed him in custody.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Police later executed a search warrant of the home and recovered a loaded handgun. Officers also located one spent projectile and a hole in the floor.

Both JUVENILES were charged with Possession of a Firearm Without a FID Card and transported to Dedham Juvenile Court.

The incident remains under investigation by the Stoughton Police Department.

Charges represent accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt under the United States Constitution. With the exception of those charged as youthful offenders, juvenile proceedings are closed to the public.
