Co-Response Program

Jail diversion programs, one of which is the Co-Response model, provide access to treatment, alleviate jail overcrowding, reduce unnecessary prosecutions and court costs, and reduce costly incarceration both in human and financial terms. Additionally, jail diversion programs can decrease unnecessary visits to emergency departments and have many intangible benefits to people encountering police including their families and friends.

The program is intended to help community members experiencing a mental health crisis get the assistance they need rather than directing them into the criminal justice system. The Co-Response clinician rides with police officers in cruisers and responds directly to calls for service. Clinicians can then assist in conducting evaluations, assessments, and make recommendations for care with the ultimate goal of keeping persons in the community. This may shorten the time on scene for officers, and in many cases, ultimately leads to better outcomes for all involved.

Korynn McGoldrick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).  Korynn holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from Bridgewater State University.  She has previous Co-Response experience with other police agencies.  She also has experience as a police/fire/EMS dispatcher.
