Stoughton Police Department Responds to Accidental Shooting at Target Parking Lot Monday Night

STOUGHTON – Chief Donna McNamara reports that the Stoughton Police Department responded to a shooting at a Target Monday night.

On Monday, Aug. 1, at 6:46 p.m., the Stoughton Police Department received a call for a person shot in the parking lot of Target, at 1 Hawes Way.

Officers arrived on scene within two minutes of the call. Upon arrival, officers located a female with a single gunshot wound to the leg. The female was treated on scene and transported to a Boston area hospital by Stoughton Fire Rescue with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

The initial investigation revealed that the female suffered an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound. She fully cooperated with police during the investigation.

A firearm was seized by police during the investigation.

The incident remains under investigation.
