Officer Edward Barker and K-9 Dino

Officer Barker and K-9 Dino are responsible for conducting specialized duties which include narcotic detection, tracking suspects or missing persons, apprehending fleeing and/or resisted suspects, and other law enforcement related activities.

Officer Edward Barker was appointed to the Stoughton Police Department in 1999. After graduating from
the Norwood Regional Police Academy 11 th MPOC,
Officer Barker was assigned to the 4PM-12Am shift.

Since then he was worked as part of the department’s warrant apprehension team, CPS technician, field
training officer and patrol officer.

Canine Dino hails from the Shallow Creek Kennel of Sharpsville, PA. He is an 8 year old Dutch Shepard
who was bred in Holland. He attended a 16-week patrol certification academy and is trained in all levels
of patrol tactics. K-9 Dino is also certified in narcotics detection.

A police K-9 must maintain certifications by attending a minimum of 16 hours of in-service training per month. Dino is certified and trained by our law enforcement partners in the Massachusetts Department of Corrections under the leadership of Sgt. Mark O’Reilly. Dino is also nationally certified through the National Association of Police Working Dogs.
