On Saturday members of the Stoughton Police Department had the privilege of helping retired Sgt. Ed Silva celebrate his 100th birthday.
Sgt. Silva started his career with the SPD as Reserve Officer in 1955. He was appointed as a full-time Patrol Officer in 1958. In 1968, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Sgt, Silva retired in 1989 after 34 years of distinguished service to the Stoughton community.
Sergeant Silva is a veteran of the U.S. Army and is the recipient of the Bronze Star.
