Chief Donna McNamara is pleased to report that a Stoughton Police Officer was recently thanked in public by a resident for his quick response to a medical emergency.

Medical emergencies make up a significant proportion of the calls received by Stoughton Police, and on September 18 Officer Joseph DeSousa, a 26-year veteran of the Stoughton Police Department, responded to a medical call involving a resident. On Sunday, the wife of that resident thanked Officer DeSousa and other Stoughton first responders in a public Facebook post.

“I want to thank Officer DeSousa for his compassion and professionalism,” said Chief McNamara. “Responding to medical emergencies is a major part of every Stoughton Police officer’s job and Officer DeSousa responded in a manner that makes us all proud.”
